Comments:
Probably the most expensive pint of Stella in Preston at 2.60! (Oct 2002)

Friday / Saturday promotion - 4 bottles (Becks, Reef, VK and Stella) for 5 (7pm til closing time).

"On a visit (Oct 2002) a new member of the barstaff gave me a lager with a 3 inch head and proffered her hand for the money laughing. I asked for the glass to be filled correctly. She found this difficult although eventually managed after 3 attempts, but was then left with an overflowing drip tray, which she immediately poured down the sink! No wonder city centre prices are so high!"

Thursday night - Party Night

Comments:
"Previously, this was the Conservative Club and had 2 traditional floors. After it's reburbishment in (approx) 1997 it re-opened in it's current form; still with 2 floors, yet the upper floor only covers 50% of the original area with the remainder allowing for the lower floor to have double-height.

The original cellar area at the front is now a separate room. The bare walls and painted girders give this place a basic look and feel, which contrasts with the comfy-looking sofas (although they are far from that)".(Brian Trubshaw)

Did you know?
This was the Conservative Club (Preston Working Men's Conservative Club) until it was refurbished and became The Varsity in approx 1997. In February 2003 it became The Academy (maybe to reflect Preston's newly aquired city status.
